I’ve been in the market for buying a couple of pairs of safari pants, I prefer 100%cotton, Ive looked at TAGs pants however I like there shirts and shorts the pants just don’t do it for me, looking for feedback on some brands that you all have used, I feel like some folks maybe using the cotton BDU surplus pants? Thoughts appreciated in advance.

5.11 tactical pants are excellent quality and style.

I am a veteran of the early 90s, so basic BDU pants and shorts made of them were my thing. Most of my hunts I wore Rothco BDU shorts. If you prefer pants, track some down in OD Green in whatever size fits you. Simple, straight forward, ought to work great. If you want something a tad tougher, go with Carhartt or Duluth fire hose pants. Heavy cotton duck pants are tough to beat.

Hard to beat 5.11 for comfort and durability in my opinion. I prefer their coalition pants- 98% cotton with remainder being some type of stretchy twill, so they will give a bit as you bend, crawl, etc. I wear them daily and just ordered more today- currently on sale at 50% off. Best of luck in your search!

As an aside… if one is trapsising through the sweltering heat of the African bush all day, an equally important consideration is the type of undershorts worn… unless you’re a commando type. Having spent many sweltering days under loads of various kinds, I cannot recommend Soffee’s ranger panties enough. Comfortable, durable (mine have lasted a decade plus), the ultimate anti-chafing solution. Worth every penny. https://www.soffe.com/products/original-ranger-panty?variant=41480093302880

I will second this one. Took two pair to SA last year and they were perfect for the job and super comfortable. I have been wearing other 511 pants for years and wear them now for duty. Top quality and I have yet to year a pair out like I do denim. Plus they come in colors that are perfect for Africa. A light brown and green are my favorites.

5.11 Stryke pants have worked for me on every trip. Tough, comfortable, and pockets for everything.

I really was impressed with the Duluth Flexpadition pants this Spring in Limpopo. It rained quite a bit and they didn't weigh on me like my khakis did. Also, when I read the title, "Safari Pants" the first thing I could think of was a super baggy pair of jogging pants with palm leaf print all over them. I will let you know when I find my pair...

I like the Sitka Everyday pants. They had some sizing issues, so I've had to sort through a couple pairs before i found one true to size, and i just ordered a pair of Kings Camo Sonora pants to try out.

Where were these on sale, Sir?

I’ve used KUIU kutana pants for my 3 African hunts and I’ve been impressed. Good with heat or moderate cold, they’ve withstood a lot of abuse, and are also very comfortable on long flights and drives.

Personally I have found the old Cabelas Trail Hiker 100%cotton 6 pockets work best for me. I buy them on EBay cheap! Greens and dark browns. I bet I have 15 pair right now.wear them all the time.

I get a lightweight quick dry pant through our work uniform company called Mocean. I had no idea a pant could be so light, dry so fast, or be so durable. I have some that have been my weekly rotation, all year long, for over a decade and show minimal wear. They are vented and seem impervious to abrasions. I bought a couple and wore them to Africa my first time. I highly recommend them as a lightweight option.

I wear these in gray/olive color

Bass pro redhead brand and academy brand pants both are nice for under $40

The Bass Pro pants are very good for hunting. I have several pairs that I take on safari. Lightweight, quiet, comfortable and they breath well. You can spend a lot more but these are great value and last.

I’ve worn Kuhl brand for 12 years. The Ryder model are the best in my opinion for turning briars and so forth. Hutch

Nice Report! Im about to pull the trigger on booking the LDE with Patrick. I have been talking about it with him for about 3 yrs now. Romain hit me up the other day with an offer I can't refuse for 2027.

Andrew, I commented that your on 375 H&H for sale was the fair price.

Like I commented, my classic stainless has the original 24” barrel.

Did you buy yours with the barrel already cut down to 21” or did you do it (or a gunsmith)?

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.
