20 days to to go and counting for S.A. plains game hunt with sable at the top of the list !

Jeff I hope you get a great one. I have used a concession in Limpopo the last two years that is actually building up their herd of sable. They now have just over 100 and are beginning to let some for hunt and I must tell you they a wonderful looking animal. I can understand why it is at the top of your list. I hope to take one someday myself. Please post pictures and share you story when you get back.
Where are you going and what outfitter are you using?

I'll be in the Limpopo near Thabazimbi with Tsala.

Good luck. Shoot straight and take lots of pictures.

best of skill jeff
cnt wait to get a crack at a sable next year.
the area around thabazimbi is a great place to hunt

Isn't thabazimbi where the big iron ore mine is. I think we went through that town to get to the buffalo hunt this year. I think we actually stopped and got fuel there for the truck. All around was beautiful area if I have the name of the town correct.

A big sable bull is such a regal looking animal. What rifle are you going to use on the big guy?

I'll be bowhunting, a takedown recurve if the shots are under 18 yards or my bowtech assasin for longer shots. Do'nt know about the mine, have never been to that region of Limpopo.

Good luck and play safe !
Glen

I don't know what it is about Sable, but yeah....

Enjoy!!!!

I hope you will have a great hunt!
Very much looking forward to the report with pics :)

Wish you the best of luck, Jeff !

CAustin,

Yes, Thabazimbi has a big iron ore mining operation. They have been mining there since the early 1930's.... That is the closest "town" to our outfit. Thabazimbi is about 40 minutes from us.

Jeff,
Best of luck on your hunt. That is a great area!

What an adventure you have coming, cant wait to hear all about it when you get back.

Limcroma thank you for responding back. The area where you are is beautiful. I stayed in a lodge about 1 hours dive from town and then we drove the next morning about two hours to hunt the buff. Great looking area to hunt. Best wishes to you and your operation.

CAustin,
That part of the Limpopo is my favorite... Many of the outfitters in this area also have some riverfront property with the confluence of 3 different rivers here. The terrain is very diverse and with riverfront, there is opportunity for even more species to hunt. When the water is high, you see crocs quite often, and a hippo now and again...It definitely keeps you alert when spot & stalking the river banks...Where you on any of the rivers at the lodge you hunted?

Not up there I wasn't. When we went back towards Pretoria to finish up my plains game I stayed in a lodge on the Elands River that is owned and operated by Nico Erasmus and his relatives. I stayed there last year also. Picture below. Very nice people there. In fact everyone I have met in RSA has been very nice to me. I will be coming back just nit sure when.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!

Made it to Augusta Georgia yesterday for a meeting, hunt bookings are looking good for 2026 and 2027, had a great time on our Alabama safari shot a rutting deer at 200 yards with 7mm PRC near Huntsville and then headed on to Butler Alabama and semi guided my first deer ever shot a very nice broken off 8 point with hunter there and spend a few days on 1100 acres hunting preserve awesome place!

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA
