I hear Ruger No 1s as beautiful as they are kick like mules.
I am not sure I would volunteer to shoot it, my heavy barrel No. 1 weighs 8.2lbs. That .500 would probably help you find religion, or at least a good Orthopedist.
 
That rifle sold for $3000.
 
Why would someone do that to themselves?!?! I love my Ruger No. 1 in 416 Rigby but boy after a few shots at the range I am done.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
