Getting close to the empty nest thing. My problem is working 7 days a week and about 110 hours/week spread out between 2 places 90 miles apart.

That will kill just about every extracurricular activity known to man!

Let’s just say “extracurricular” uh activities have been few and far between the last two years. I’m lucky if I even get to see Mrs. Gizmo for a couple hours during a week.

I think there are a couple more odd-ball calibers for the Thompson Center Contender. I've never reloaded for a shotgun in my life. If I had more room I'd consider it.

After reading this thread I feel conflicted. On one hand I'm glad I don't have the addiction as bad as some. I'm also think I should be loading for more more cartridges. I currently load .243 Win, 7mm-08,6.5x47, .308 Win, 300WM, 7WSM and 6.5 Sherman. The Sherman is a wildcat and I have to fireform brass. The first batch of brass I did I used the cream of wheat method. A small amount of pistol powder with cream of wheat and no projectile. Apparently if you live in a neighborhood and crank 2 or 3 off in your backyard your neighbors become upset.

Anyone who buys or builds a rifle that REQUIRES you fireform your own brass has got the reloading bug pretty bad. I would say that even though you don't reload as many cartridges, the fact that your fireform your own stuff has earned you a seat at the table.

1. You pick up brass at the range compulsively, most of which you don't load for but you just CAN'T. HAVE. ENOUGH!

2. You get more excited when you see an RCBS Rock Chucker for sale cheap than almost anything else.

3. You buy WAYYYY more brass and bullets than you could possibly need right now. (I have over 300 PREMIUM bullets for a .375 H&H. I shoot about 5 a year.

4. Your brass is sorted into calibers, then sorted into subcategories based on its brand, cleanliness and stage in loading. ( I have 5 different containers just for 9mm. "Dirty", "Clean", 'Clean & Resized", "Clean Primed", "Clean primed and flared".)

I could keep going.... Anywho I thought a thread to get out all your reloading enthusiam would be a helpful way to cope.

Don't worry, you're among like minded individuals.

Everyone is different...but if I could not handload, I believe I would lose out on 80% of the fun of shooting/gun ownership.

I started handloading immediately upon buying my first centerfire rifle when I was 16. I have loaded for every rifle and handgun I've owned since.

I my name is Kurt , Chris is a lightweight .. I started reloading when I was 16 fast forward 44 years , I have 3 dillon progressive presses , 2 lee progressive presses, a 1977 CH press I will keep forever, a lee 4 hole turret press, a rock chucker, I have 600 pounds of dirt in buckets my buddy and I dug out of a collapsed firing range bank that we are getting lead to cast out of , we bought a cement mixer to wash the dirt off of the lead before melting, I have 2 pact powder measure dispensers and one scale and 4 other powder dump that are a mixture of Pacific, hornady , lee and rcbs. I have a 2 gallon ultrasonic cleaner and 40,000+ primers.
I really don't think Chris has a problem .. hmmm does that make me an enabler ???? I am building a new reloading bench and will post pictures at the end of the year when it is done. I was able to get a great deal on walnut butcher block it was wholesale from stock that wasn't claimed.

That's the thing about shortages. It doesn't matter what. during "the war" (1942-45) coffee and sugar were in short supply, so what do you suppose we had stockpiled for years. So when there's a shortage of 22 rimfire ammo, primers, powder and certain cartridges- yep- when it's readily available those that lived through it say "that's not going to happen to me again" so then the cycle resumes. One thing I have notices is that some of my favorite bullets get discontinued, so I have found it wise to buy a decent quantity even if the maker says there are no plans to stop production. Can you say Speer MagTips, Nosler Solid Base, and Winchester SilverTip?
