Dear friends, a friend intends to carry out a cape buffalo hunt quickly in South Africa. The rifle that will have in that opportunity will be lime 375 H & H and the ammunition is Hornady, dangerous game series, tip DGX of 300 grains. (Soft tip). I would be interested to know your opinions on this matter, whether this tip is suitable or not for this hunt. From already thank you very much.
My best regards to all.

I'd recommend against DGX. Hornady has had well-known issues in the recent past of complete jacket separation from the core.

In no particular order
Swift A-Frame
Barnes TSX
Northfork
Woodleigh PP
Nosler Partition
Norma Oryx

all 300 grain

How well do you like this friend?

Just kidding, NO!

Yep- Avoid the Hornady "Dangerous" Game series. I've tested them and there are much, much, much! better bullets out there. Volumes have been written on this forum about them and their tendency to fail. Agree with above... those are better bullets. I've used A Frames, TSXs and Northfork CPS bullets on buffalo and can say they are excellent choices.

There is still nothing wrong with using a good solid for buffalo. The original Hornady solid was fine, don't know about the new one.

The topic that won't die, kinda like the buff I shot with DGX's...

If he is using the “improved” bonded version, I will be anxiously waiting to hear how it works! If he’s using the previous generation, you might have him consult his PH.

My wife thinks I've lost my mind because I'm laughing so hard.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! Swift AFrames backed by Northfork solids will work nicely.

Swift A Frames backed by Swift A Frames are a pretty good option as well;)

Jumping on the bandwagon here, Hornady makes some very fine bullet lines. Their Dangerous game series are not one of them.
I personally use Barnes TSX sifts, and cutting edge bullets brass solids.

NO....

The hunt may not be as "quickly" as he would imagine....

Use a premium grade expanding bullet there are so many available...

You missed the original Trophy Bonded Bearclaws.

They are suprior to Nosler Partion for Buffalo but I would take the Partition over anything for Lions/Leopord

This the the the 300 grain TBBC that was pulled from my Cape Buffalo. He was DOA after 1 shot that quartered behind the shoulder, through the lungs and into the far shoulder.

Perfect mushroom, weighted 281.1 grains, 93.7 percent weight retention.

I personally would use this bullet over any other for buffalo, with my second choice being the Swift A-Frame.

Shot a Buffalo last month with this very round at 70 yards facing me. He jumped and then staggered 30 yards wend down and was almost gone when I put another between his shoulder blades. No issue at all and went down for the count way faster than most the stories I have heard with any of the other rounds. But its all up to your preference.

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on another rifle but would love to see your rifle first, any way you could forward a pic or two?

Love your rifle! I'm needing a heavier rifle for Africa. Sold my .375 Dakota Safari several trips ago. Would you have any interest in a trade of some sort involving the custom 338/06 I have listed here on the site ( I have some room on my asking price. I also have a large quantity of the reloading components and new Redding dies as well as a box of A-Square Dead Tough ammo.
