Pre-64 Winchester M70 - 9.3x64?

I have an older friend that has been collecting Pre-64's since the the late 1960's; I know certain rare calibers like .300H&H, .257Rob & 250-3000 bring a premium; but he has one caliber I've never heard of an M70 being chambered in Especially a pre-64 being chambered in....

9.3x64 Brenneke - He says it came out of their custom shop and that he had only heard of one other chambered in this caliber but had never seen one in person.

When he told me about it I first thought it had to be a rebarrel/ aftermarket custom; as I had heard that counterfeits/fakes had been made after the factory stamps were sold off..... But when I got this picture I was surprised to see a 9.3x64 with what appears to be a factory barrel?

From what I have read there were a rare few made in 7.65mm & 9x57 to try and attract European buyers prior to WWII; and even after that you could order special calibers that were not "catalogued calibers"

Currently the picture above is the only one I have; I'm supposed to meet up with him and document/catalogue his collection as soon as the covid craze is over and I'm trying to gather any additional information I can before then.

Your pre 1964 Winchester Model 70 was indeed , chambered from the factory in 9.3x64 mm Brenekke . It was made circa 1948 . I have seen and held a pre 1964 Winchester Model 70 of an identical vintage , which was chambered in 10.75x68 mm Mauser . They were part of a short lived limited edition series . They were also made in 9.5x57 mm Mannlicher Schoenauer .

Non-original barrel and a custom project? I’m doubtful that’s an original Winchester produced 10.75

the stamping is very untypical for a winchester on the 10.75.
the stamping on the 9.3x64 does look typical.

Thank you very much . Please try to get ahold of Winchester Western’s 1947 catalog . I clearly recall seeing an advertisement there about there rare calibre Model 70 rifles .
