Actually 54 but who’s counting? Another interesting fact is Colorado has more peaks above 10,000 that the rest of the states put together. The mountains go right through the middle of Colorado.
I think some of the discrepancy in number of 14k peaks depends on source and is caused by varying definitions of “peak” for record. Some are more of a ridge line with smaller peaks scattered along the backbone. No matter, they are all impressive and I’ll leave the summiting for the mountaineers. :)

2.5 months until the midterms, and Trump is still defending high gas prices.
Has anyone informed him that most people vote with their wallets?

Voters are pretty much locked in at this point. The affordability message is an anchor around the Republicans midterm necks. Mail in voting starts in September and early in person voting starts in October.

So it’s a little late to change course now.

I think it’s going to be more about turnout. Who holds their nose and votes, and who stays home in protest.

Also, candidates matter. Primarying Cornyn because he did not suck up 100% of the time and in his stead pushing a very flawed candidate like Paxton could cause TX GOP to lose a Senate seat.

Yes, If Texas goes with Tellarico. That is 100% Trumps fault

He is pretty proficient in Sh!!ing in his own Easter basket.

if any centrist Republican (not tied to Trump) or centrist democrat runs. They should have a glide path to the Whitehouse. Normal people are sick of both ends of the spectrum.

Cornyn is a lot more complicated than that..

The TX 2A community sees him as way too weak on 2A issues…his position specifically after the Uvalde shooting in 2022 supporting the Safer Communities Act despite being strongly advised by his constituents that they didn’t want it was something of a final nail in the coffin for him..

As far back as Feb 2025 (before Paxton entered the race) The Texas Tribune was saying he was going to face his toughest primary ever, as the TX R party is turning harder right and tends to favor Abbott type leadership, and after 4 terms Cornyn was seen as way too moderate for TX… Ted Cruz at that time had a 78% approval rate among republicans.. Cornyn only had a 48% approval rating among republicans as the other TX Senator…

Long and the short of it is Cornyn closest advisors started telling him 2 years ago to start leaning further right and get out of the center, which is a bit of a no man’s land in TX.. and he ignored them.. opening the door to several far right candidates like Wesley Hunt and Paxton, who would have never been a real challenge to him before (this is the first election Cornyn has ever lost in his entire political career)..,

He was even advised to retire before any campaigning began.. to go out on top and maybe make a bid for another seat (appointed) in government.. but he thought he could pull off another term… and… he almost did… but obviously at the end of it all he failed…

Cornyn even made the mistake of engaging in a mud slinging campaign with an expert mud slinger… something he should have avoided… going on the air with statements like “it’s going to be hard to run for office from prison, Ken” and “criminal defense lawyers are calling to suggest you spend less time pushing Russian propaganda and more time defending against your long standing felony charges” was frankly dumb on his part.. he should have focused on telling Texans all the good things he’s done for Texas rather than letting his 10 year personal feud with Paxton be the focus..

I agree with the hardcore 2a folks… Cornyn always was a littler weaker on the 2A than I personally like.. but… I thought he was a 100X better representative of my values and beliefs over Paxton.. so I voted for him… no candidate in the history of msn is perfect..

All of that said… as bad as I don’t like Paxton on the R ticket in November.. rest assured that’s where my vote is going… Telarico makes AOC look sensible…

Are there any centrist Republicans left? It appears to me that he destroyed those who tried to oppose him. They have committed political suicide as a party and deserve the fate that they have earned. This isn't an endorsement of the Democrats in any way. We are clearly in trouble as a country.

I am optimistic that there are lots of them out there (I know a bunch) and that they have just been temporarily silenced by the MAGA insanity. Hopefully when President Bonespur moves on they will be able to re-emerge.

In his natural state I think Rubio fits that description.

What are Brandon Herrera odds?

I hope that you are right and if they exist that they have a plan to remove Trump before he can do any more damage..

What are Brandon Herrera odds?
Id say very strong... he has outraised his opponent by 400% and has a much bigger war chest and more money left on hand right now to get ads out and make a final big push..

The odds makers/gambling sites have Herrera at between 60-70% chance of winning.. most of the political polling groups show him up by anywhere from 2-4 points..

Outside of the 25th ammendment, how exactly whould "they" remove a sitting President from office?

They did it with Lincoln and JFK came close with Reagan. Some on the left have been "implying" it. I'd hate to be a secret agent supervisor in charge of threat assessment with all the attempts and threats on Trump.

Hopefully no Devil Dogs or “All-the-Way” Rangers see this.

It’s not Trumps fault, John was going to lose before Trump endorsed Paxton. The fault is entirely on Cornyn. He piss off the 2nd folks one to many times a he paid the price.

so @Joker12 is implying that sitting republicans should be developing an assassination plan?

seems a bit far fetched to me.. especially when considering that depending on which poll you believe somewhere between 52 - 65% of republicans identify with or support the whole "MAGA" movement..

When tracking first started in 2022 only 38% "identified" with MAGA... now its more than half (depending on who you believe its substantially more than half)..

lol.. I realized my "mistake" as a freshly minted 2LT...

I went to Columbus AFB in Mississippi... I was just overnighting (had work in the greater Columbus area the next day) so I asked the SP at the gate where the VOQ was.. he didnt know what I was talking about.. so I had to explain I was looking for a room for the night and wanted to know where the visiting officers quarters were... he replied with "Oh... you mean the Magnolia Inn" and gave me directions..

I proceeded to pull up to a very nice hotel... which was the first major surprize.. if youve ever seen the VOQ at Ft Benning or Ft Bragg youre basically getting a prison cell for company grade officers lol.. cinderblock walls, cheap tile floors. A cheap single mattress bed a cheap set of drawers, a shower, and a shitter.. all inside about a 10x12 room.. which back then I thought was decent living.. and when you check into the VOQ theres usually some disgruntled E4 sitting at the desk waiting to sign you in (or at least this was the standard in the early 90's)..

Surprize #2 was when I went into the reception area there was this wonderful old southern belle at the desk.. just as sweet as she could be.. probably 70 years old, friendly, helpful, kind, etc.. who apologized profusely that they were all out of company grade quarters.. but if I didnt mind, she'd check me into a field grade room for the night lol... I think I paid $9 for the room and checked in..

Holy shit was a blown away.. What I got was a full blown suite, as nice as any I had ever seen in a Marriott, Sheraton, Hilton, etc.. a bedroom with a TV, den/living area with a TV, actual carpet on the floor lol.. wallpaper.. a couch, big lazy boy recliner, big comfy bed, etc..etc..

I knew right then I had chosen the wrong branch of service lol..
