Respectfully, please tell me, at this juncture, where is it NOT, a huge pain in the ass to bring a firearm...into ANY foreign country.
Is there a destination that is "painless"?
I have not been fortunate enough to have hunted "the world", but have been blessed, and have been able, to travel/hunt/fish/explore a fairly respectable chunk of it.
My notes :
Mexico - In the days of yore, it was no more of a challenge to bring a rifle/shotgun/pistol...than it was to bring a surfboard/ fishing/dive gear.
Now?
No mas. Don't even think about it.
South America - In the 80's...piece of cake...but still...a PITA. But basically, just more luggage to haul in and out. We shot the outfitter's shotguns...easy...no extra charge...perfect...until those guns were wore-out.
Sooo...we bought new Citori's...brought them...and left them...with the stipulation that they were not to be used (ha ha ha) until our return.
Now...the chances of bringing a shotgun in...and not taking it out? Exactly zero. Hence, the 3-6 hour delay at airport customs.
Russia/Siberia - No problems at all.
Bring US dollars, a case of vodka, and be prepared to fight... hard...as circumstances dictate.
Africa - Arrival at destination is simplistic, and carefree.
En-route transfers...not so much.
Avoid transfers through England at all cost...if American.
Can't say with certainty, but I earnestly believe that they are still sporting a bit of a stiffie about that whole 1776 deal.
Yhis is the world we now live in gents...adapt and overcome.
Best
