New Magnum Mauser with or with out thumb cut out

WasMr

Was Mr Corbett hunting, culling, or shooting for ivory? (me being pedantic)
I think it worth remembering that when Corbett was buying rifles, there was less choice in action. Were thumb cut rifles available then?

The Mauser 98 action was, of course, a military rifle design and had both stripper clip slot and thumb cutout from the beginning. Some magnum and other sporting versions omit one or both features.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
