New Holland double

Nice rifle and good luck with it.

You have a very nice rifle...it would be wise to slug the barrels as the 450/400 3 1/4 came between .408 - .412.. I would not shoot solids in it..the modern solids are too hard on the barrels..

My 1906 450/400 3 1/4 is regulated for 60 grains of cordite and soft nose 400 grainers BTW..

There were no standards on chambers for the NE rounds in Britain until april 1913..

It will be interesting to see how it regulates. I might end up going with paper patched bullets

I am thinking I will shoot cast and maybe paper patch them.

Congrats on the new add!

Love rifle indeed.

This H&H is made on a "Climax" action which was patent in 1878(If I recall correct) which H&Hs real first succesful hammerless system. I doubt many full nitroloads went into these type actions. Blackpowder express cartridges and shotgun/paradox primarily. It was replaced later with Beesleys sidelock actions and Dominions backactions.

Take it to Africa for some warthogs etc. Beautiful piece of H&H history.

You can shoot Woodleigh solids in it. My rifle was built in 1908 and the Woodleigh solids given their softer lead core does not hurt older guns.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
