After 7 months of trying to decide I finally made the right decision and purchased another double. It is a 450-400 3 1/4" Boswell circa 1905 and is fully engraved and proofed for 60 grains of cordite with 400 grain bullets.

It is a real joy to shoot.

I am so damned jealous! :-) I believe that is the most efficient and usable of the double rifle calibers. Maybe if I were a PH, I might think I needed a tad more stopping power, but for me the 450-400 would be ideal. Well done. A beautiful thing.

Red Leg,

Bigger double, I now know you are trying to emulate MS.

But seriously, thanks for the compliments, it is a fine little rifle.

LOL. Now that was funny.

Have to compare notes someday; I grew up in Lake Charles.

Mike,

Great double. I miss mine. Hopefully I will have it back in 2012 for my hunt after restoration. For now I will have to live with my bolt 375 Dumoulin and my new 416 Rigby. Nothing beats hunting with a double and I am going to feel naked without it this year.

Mike, beautiful rifle, wish it was mine, great choice on the caliber too. The more I study that caliber the more I like it!

Mike, I know you'll make good use of it, truly a "killer" double!

Mike, congratulations on your purchase.

Fine gun, excellent cartridge.

I have several thousand buffalo on my hunting concession that deserve to be hunted with a firearm like that.

Happy hunting with that double of yours, a truly classic piece.

Paul.

Just moving to DM. Yes, please ask your friend if he knows somebody who might be willing to support a persistent hunt in the snow.

Hi Paul,
This is Daniel from Mankazana Safaris.

I saw your post regarding a hunt in Africa. I am sure you have been bombarded with messages and replies from other outfitters, so I will keep this one quick.
I have a feeling we have exactly what you need for a first safari.
If you'd like to hear more, please don't hesitate to reach out.

If you ever decide to sell this rifle, I will buy it with the dies, bullet, brass, the works. Dan
