After months of drooling over over everyone’s double rifles on here I started shopping online and getting a little more serious. I’ve been hunting for a good used double but just never could find the courage to pull the trigger on buying a used one.
My local gun shop that I do a lot of business with is a large Benelli dealer, so I decided to inquire about a Chapuis because I liked the idea of getting it from a local dealer that has always taken care of me.
They got in touch with their Benelli rep….lo and behold they had a Chapuis Elan in 470 NE that could be shipped this week. My dealer offered it to me for $15,000. Benelli also informed them the prices were increasing at the end of July. I decided to place the order!
I got some photos from them on the rifle and I am very impressed with the wood especially for the price.
I’m super excited to have this for my next safari in July 2026. Unfortunately I leave for this year’s Safari in 10 days so it’s going to have to sit this trip out.
Does anyone know what factory loads these are regulated for? I’m a hand loader but I feel like I want to get comfortable with the gun before hand loading.
