Just picked up a new .404 from Tip and he did a great job as usual. This is a no frills CZ 550 working man’s .404. :). NECG sites, 23” barrel, feeds great and topped with a 1-4 Nikon Monarch African with great eye relief. Will likely get some Alaskan Arms rings to bring the scope down a tad and be good to go. I have no need for this rifle, but grew weary of staring at the action and barrel. Will likely go to my 16 year old son, but I may have built it a tad on the light side for him. Balance is excellent and I should be able to get out and shoot it soon.

As the old saying goes, only accurate rifles are interesting. The most accurate rifles I have were either built by Tip or Speedy Gonzales. Not sure if this will be .25 MOA like my .257 STW Tip built, but I will gladly settle for a little less on this one. :)

Welcome to the club. Are you going to hand load? The Von Gruff magic load works extremely well. A 400 gr Swift A-Frame over 84.0 grains of H4350 yields about 2300 fps with low SD and ES. As always, start out low and work your way up.

Very Nice!. Those Nikon African scopes are excellent with great eye relief.

What does it weigh?

Oh, I have been a club member for a looooong time. :). Like I said, I had no need for an additional .404, other than perhaps for my son, but when Tip started building rifles again, I couldn’t resist.

My favorite load for 400 Aframes is 75 gr of RL15. Right at 2260-2275 fps.

Oh, and if anyone is in need of a factory CZ 550 safety, let me know. It was swapped out for three position.

Is this rifle sold? If not what is the weight of it and do you know if there is enough difference in diameter between the 35W and the 9.3 to allow for a rebore to a 9.3x62 which is what I am after?
Thanks,
Gary (Just down the road in Springfield)

Forgive me if this is the incorrect area, I signed up to this forum just now because I wanted to be on the list to purchase a copy of your autobiography. Please feel free to pass my information along to whomever is selling. Thank you so much. I look forward to it!
I like the Tillie in my picture. They are supposed to fit loose (2 fingers inside hat band), have mesh for cooling, and hold their shape after washing.
