Folks
Need advice from experienced hunters for a scope for my Ruger .416 guide gun, looking at

Trijicon AccuPoint 1-4x24

OR

Trijicon AccuPoint 1-6x24

Which is more practical in the field (magnification) and why, looking for your valuable insights

I have a 2-10 on my 416 Rem and love it. Not sure your intended use for your rifle but it’s capable of some longer shots and for me the extra magnification really helps and 2 power at the lower end provides plenty FOV for me. YMMV

I used a 1-4 Zeiss on my 416 Rigby. I kept it on 1x as the default and when I had time to take my first shot at DG at 100m I had time to crank it to to 4x.
Both of your choices are good for short range work up close. I'd take the 1-6 for slightly better magnification if needed. But really, both are good.

I would also choose the 1-6x24 scope. A bit more magnification is always better, if for whatever reason, you need to take a shot of a greater distance.

On rifles of bigger calibers, scopes should not be too big and heavy because of the recoil. In this case, however, we have plenty of leeway.

I took a .416 Ruger on my first Safari in which I killed both a buffalo and a hippo. The cartridge is capable of making longer shots on plains game as others have mentioned, but it is also nice to have the extra magnification on hippo. I killed mine in the last ten minutes of 10th and final day of the trip. The shot presented to me was not ideal, maybe 80 yards rear brain shot with only the very top of hippo's head exposed, the extra magnification was nice for what was a high pressure shot.

See you are from Denmark - see quite a few Danes where I stalk in Scotland - great hunters.
The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.
