this is my new rifle. a remington 798 at 375h&h. the action and barrel are from Serbia (zastava). the original stock is laminated. ugly. the new stock (used) is that of a TAGLE gunsmith. is very pretty. my treasure. I used manual ammo loading. 270gr speer bullet and w760 gunpowder. The scope will be a Meopta 4x32, ret 4. that my friend @Clodo Ferreira offered me. I hope you like it.

I love mine and it has a very similar wood design as in your photos. I purchased it and a Remington 799 in 458WM from another AH member.

798,, the 799 is for the mini cals.

Looks good, congrats on the new addition!

Hi Chino,

Agree, good looking rifle, indeed!
If you want the position of the scope some more to the rear, just rotate 180 degrees the front mount base. Doing this would allow you to put the scope around 1 cm further back.
Good luck!

What a stock upgrade! nice.

Great rifle, and that stock is a spectacular upgrade! Three years ago I picked up a Remington 798 in 6mm Bob Nelson (aka 243 Winchester) and it's a handy little rifle for Texas whitetail. ;-)

Yes I just purchased a 798 in 458 Win Mag for . I’m sorry don’t hate me but $600. Looks brand new.
That's an impressive find! I recall reading somewhere that the 798's originally didn't sell that well, so at one point around 2009, Cabelas was clearing them out for less than $400.
