If anyone saw the movie "Big Fish" part of my life is similar. I am the son of one of the three characters in the first chapter of this book. I grew up as child listening to many stories of colonial africa and other countries told by ex-pats who I later thought had too much to drink and were embellishing their experiences. These stories have stuck with me for all these years. A cousin somehow stumbled on an excerpt of this book and told me to read it. It was just as my Dad had recounted 55 years or more ago. I'm not sure but hope there are still great stories such as these out there. My son went back to RSA and completed training in guiding and worked in the Greater Kruger area of RSA. He was involved in anti-poaching and his partner at the time was and still is involved training tracker dogs used in anti-poaching.
