merkel 47E 20 ga double barrel, it seems to be well made. any info on it?

i bought a mint(close to new) 47E merkel 20ga shotgun with SST and auto ejectors with factory takedown leather carrying case, at public auction. i have fired it 52 times with out any problems and like it.

Merkel makes a quality shotgun. Congratulations on picking up a 20 gauge, those are harder to find. I don’t know what decade yours was manufactured in, but typically, the older, the higher the quality. I.e. a 1950s build will be superior to a 1960s make which is in turn superior to a 1970s, and so forth.

They are nice guns. My father has the same model in .12. I have one in .20, like you. Have fun with it!
