Luggage with gun case storage

Last time I went to Africa I used a hard bottom duffle bag with a storage area at bottom for 36” gun case. Can I use this piece of luggage flying United from Charlotte to Newark to Joberg ? Can I put my locked ammo case inside this bag? Taking 2 gun cases, double rifle and bolt action. Could other case be put inside this bag with ammo? Plan to carry on all clothing and the other stuff that tsa allows.

I think the questions you are posing to us would be better addressed to the actual airline you are flying with. IIRC ammunition and firearms have to travel seperately.
