Probably a dumb question but I figured I’d gauge the minds of you fine folk. I’m originally an Arizona coues whitetail hunter but in living in the eastern US have collected a number of great eastern whitetail bucks. I only do European mounts for a number of reasons, but the dilemma I’ve run into is my Coues mounts get outshined by my eastern deer, and I’d love to be able to help them stand out a bit more. Does anyone do anything beyond just grouping species together to highlight certain mounts in your collection? Thanks for humoring me everyone!

Grouping them together and maybe separating them with some non-deer species is probably the simplest solution. Like, Coues deer on one side of the room, some African skulls, or predator skulls In the middle, and Whitetail on the other side.

An alternative idea might be to make small bands/rings of metal, I'm thinking about like bands on waterfowl, but bigger circumference. Engrave the date you got them or something meaningful, and put those over a tine on the coues deer. It would be a way to denote them from the whitetail.

I love it, thank you. That’s a great suggestion!

Perhaps something like this would work also, but probably not if shoulder mounts. The four here are from the same trip (to Poland).

Build AZ shaped plaque for your Coues. My Coues get side eyed hanging on the wall in Montana because most don’t even know they exist.
