Are there no requirements on these wildlife guides to be at the same proficiency level as a PH? Like the system in Zimbabwe ?

I cannot imagine going on a tour in the wild, not having the guide carry a rifle, ready to do the necessary.

You won’t get wet they said.

You won’t get dead they said.

At least no one died
Great Video showing the brains of Greenies

When you go to third world country, you have to WATCH OUT FOR YOURSELF! For the right amount of money, they will let you do anything. In Mexico, I was given 15 minutes instruction and sent down scuba diving--went with the easy current, having a ball, and almost got swept around an Island and out to sea with the tides. Turns out that happens a couple of times a year. Good thing I stuck my head up and checked progress.
For a paltry sum, I was towed up on a parasail behind an old PT boat (like the one JFK piloted) and was so high I drifted with the wind over the town and over a big power transformer site. No problem!!, Hey!
For a few bucks in Africa I'm sure I could get close to elephants. no problem, Hey!!

My father was almost killed in Acapulco Mx para sailing, they almost squashed him against a hotel, sister almost died in a Australia when her hot air balloon crashed in high winds, I usually avoid such things
No bungee jumping the Zambezi river into crocs and hippos for me

What would be the best firearm in this situation? A rifle would be sitting on the floor of the makoro getting wet and dirty, and the standing guide would need to bend down during the action to retrieve it. I recall seeing a photo of Zim guides training with a heavy revolver from a canoe, but I suspect that was more focused on an angry hippo not an elephant. 44 Magnum with solids? 500 S&W Magnum?

Im not shooting at an elephant with a pistol. I dont care if it has worked for other people.

A 450-400 NE double wouldnt be bad to keep in one of the boats. My thought is the light recoiling cartridge would be easier to deal with on a boat.

any handgun pointed at the guide would work. I think he'd paddle pretty fast.....

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc
