Just had a phone chat

Now I have to mortgage the house, practice, cars, and my beloved Akubra hat!

Von Gruff is sending me a number if suggestions later this week.

I said I would never use them but would just keep for display.

So I will post my choices as soon as they become available.
Have a scrub bull’s skull arriving this week for a hunt in June.
Anyway must go wife has a list of chores for me - end of the wet season so I have to get the mold off the concrete etc

I got tell it’s the end of the wet season because
The sun shone on Wednesday between 1:14 and 1:37 pm

Happy chores.

@Von Gruff knives are beautiful. You will be happy. And priced very well!

Swamp Kauri or Zebra wood.....

Owww, zebrawood on a pocket ranger! Great idea!

Damascus is ordered and should be here for when I am ready to start them

Look forward to seeing what you get!

This is my new knife by Von Gruff.
It's called

Wapiti Hunter Butcher.

The blade from what I can gather is an amalgam of copper and steel.
The handle is from a maple burl whilst the boster is buffalo horn.
This is THE knife I WILL be using (the others are not used but are kept for display purposes).
Now I must say I'm truly impressed AND
I have to design a new knife for the beloved Von Gruff to made (after Easter). I'm actually going away for Easter.
I'm looking at something really different with Zebra wood overlaying a black timber for the handle.
I would appreciate some ideas (Hint).

@Dr Ray
Von Gruffs knives you get what you pay for.ypur not going to settle on a Howa when you can have a Sako
Putting the knives on display is to deprive them of their use.
A bit like buying a gaurd dog and barking yourself.
Bob

After a couple of email exchanges this design has been excepted for a new knife for @Dr Ray . Going to be in 1095 with a hamon so another new thing to try.
The harpoon figheter is an unusual blade style and with the butt breaker, fuller and the angled bolster with a black and brass spacers to match the spacer under the zebrawood handleit should look rather striking on the 1095 blade with a hamon .

Yes Bob I know
But
I have quite a few so I have chosen two types for use

@Dr Ray that is a beautiful Damascus knife. What is the blade length? When do get to hunt with it? (And what will you be hunting?) To be fair, you should post a photo of the knife in use.

Figure out how to do a Ranger with that "temper line" yet? I really think I would like one of those. :A Way To Go:

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
