Thanks for the compliment on the rifle; the maker has passed on but I bet he is smiling up in Heaven.
The donor was a 12 gauge Simson & Co Suhl gun, but the wood work was designed by Bob Hynden and done by Brian Dudley complete with palm swell and cheek piece/pad. The rear rib has grooves for the Talley scope rings and Talley peep sight which provides a very low scope and peep view through the express sights. The stock comb therefore works for all sights! With scope, weight is 9 pounds.
And the rifle handles like a good double gun should with the sights coming up into line as the the rifle is mounted. The darn thing seems to fire itself when the sight picture comes into focus. This one is a keeper.

sabatti 450 nitro express ejector
sabatti 9.3x74r extractor.
they both are regulated like a dream! both shoot 1 1/2” at 75 yards and on horizontal plane.
i know it is a sin to put a scope on DRs for some purists but i have a scope i can pull out my pack and can immediately attach or take off in a matter of a couple of seconds. a 2-7x32 leupold with a single lever contessa mount. allows me to take long shots on PG. i have complete confidence shooting the 9.3 with the scope to about 300 yards.

I've known people that thought they owned a boat when in reality the boat owned them;
hopefully the above gun owners are not in that category.

I have a few but not what I want, I did see it for sale & cheap only a few months back but missed it as too late, a Westley Richards .577 TLH light nitro !

I have a
C&H 8 bore action waiting for its rifle barrels to be added .
Tolley 12bore Fully Rifled 3in
Bland .577 BPE 2 3/4in .
Greener .577 BPE 2in (Snider)
Westley Richards , Box Lock, Ejector, 400/360NE

Have a cool old under lever hammered Cape Gun to (looks like a Double) in 500/450 Musket (I think it is, has loose rib) X 16ga .

Would also like either a nice English .500NE for guiding back up & or .450NE for personal hunting !

Hi Cal. fantastic collection! I see from prior posts that you live in Alaska. My father retired up there and lives in anchorage so we have done many hunts up there, and also did a PG hunt in Namibia. those interior grizzlies dont get as big as the coastal brownies but man are they aggressive. ill post my 2016 grizzly story when i have time. its a long story. Cheers.

What are they ? I recall @Major Khan sir and you mentioning once that you own a 9.3x74 millimeter Rimmed ( a combination gun ) .
9.3x74R/12ga
12ga/12ga 24 inch barrels with sights slug gun
7x65R/12ga 3 inch
308/12ga

None (at least in reality - in my dreams I own many!), though I do own side-by-side and over-under shotguns. I would love to own a double rifle one day.

Can anyone comment on their usefulness or appropriateness for N. American game - in the big bore calibers that is, I understand you can get doubles in smaller calibers, but I can probably only afford to ever own one of these ;). If you were only going to ever buy one, what caliber would you go for?
a .375 or a 9.3x74r would be a great NA double. both flat shooting and relatively mild to shoot. both big enough to go after anything in north america including brown bear.

Just 1. But its the only one I need, unless I hit the lotto !
Heym 88ph in 500ne.
And Im the man that looks for any excuse to hunt with it. Gophers are great practice !

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
Thanks,
