Heading to long range shooting school (Oregon)

9 of the 10 Animals I shot in New Zealand last year were shot prone….

I see the photos you have in NZ I can see we’re prone would work great. I wasn’t sure the terrain you would be hunting. I know I’ve been to a lot of areas out west and even some areas on the east coast where you could see 300yds-miles but if you went prone you wouldn’t see over the grass five foot infront of you. That’s why I said the elevated position. Good shooting by the way

Overall great trip! I left both my rifles to have a few mods and upgrades done. More on that later…

Matt and Dana had a great trip. They both shot 1 Mile! Both using 7 PRC’s. Matt had only shot his brother in laws .22 out plinking 6 months ago. Never shot a rifle prior to today. And he shot great today. Very proud of him and Dana!

We started at 400 yards. By lunch Matt and Dana, both, had hit the 1,000 yard target cleanly.

I had the pleasure of shooting with Mark, another AH member, and very accomplished hunter! And it was just a coincidence, that we partnered up, but it was great shooting with him as we both have a lot in common. We have very similar beliefs and shooting styles. Mark did great and certainly helped me. If he reads this and wants to comment, I’ll let him decide.

We made our way to Bend Oregon for dinner at a great Steakhouse…

Looks great. I’ve been to **NOT**PERMITTED** (2) and K&M (1). I also shoot PRS, two-gun and whatever rifle and pistol competitions that we can find. I think that shooting under pressure helps with hunting shots that are taken under pressure. Plus, it’s great to stay on the trigger after hunting season, and it’s not golf so it is not gay.
"Its not golf so its not gay" Man you made me choke while I was taking a drink of water!

This was such a great experience, not only for me, also for Matt and Dana, and everyone that was there. I always look forward to going to the shooting schools and similar events. Not for the competitive element because that’s not what it is.

Although the level two schools can have competitive components. It’s about being among your peers, camaraderie, meeting new people that mostly come from hunting culture, but there were people there that didn’t hunt, and sharing stories. There were several people there that were elite level hunters, but very humble and to me that’s inspiring.

Thank you for sharing. I've always been curious about their shooting schools. And what a great time of year to visit North Central Oregon, there's still some green on the hills! Lol. I grew up a bit further east. My parents lived outside of Maupin for a few years after they retired. It's a truly beautiful area.
