Unfortunately the character assination and accusations in the real S F community is going wild right now and is being bloviated on the various podcast. Jacko ,[seal] is being accused of murder, Tim Kennedy of total stolen valor, Rob ONIEL of osama killer fame is accused of not being the shooter and is Sueing , and others, Really a shame , maybe its some form of PTS -D.

Sadly this is nothing new.. SOF is notorious for eating its own…

The internet and social media has just made it a thousand times worse…

The days of the “Quiet Professional” are gone…

30 years ago you’d be PNG’d from the community if you wrote a book, did public appearances, etc… these days nothing is thought about about it at all… guys are making big money with their pod casts, book deals, etc.. and the bigger the stories the bigger the paychecks… so, sadly, a lot of them lie…

What’s stupid is the SOF community remains small, and is very tight knit… if you served in tier one or tier two units in SOF… I dont care if it was yesterday or the Korean War or any time in between… everyone else that legitimately served in your claimed unit either knows you, or knows someone that knows you… and a couple of the services/units are particularly good at keeping exhaustive records about who graduated what schools, were in what units, etc…

It’s not hard to out a SOF poser… sometimes it’s just not worth the energy or effort…

But legitimate SOF personnel that go public with exaggerations or lies… you can almost guarantee they will get exposed… their brothers are generally intolerant of that sort of shit… it just sometimes takes some time before the exposure is leaked to the world…

The things circulating today about Kennedy, McPhee, O’Neil, Willink, Luttrell, etc.. have been getting talked about extensively inside the SOF community for the better part of a decade with some of those guys… (some in support of… others in absolute rejection of… etc etc)

1 is a frequent gambler at all the major casinos and in 20 years of knowing him he has never lost a dime and has always pocketed 10’s of thousands every trip
I have now told him that I never want to hear about his trips to the casino
Or we can’t be friends!

2 was a sociopath who lied about everything and absolutely everything he said was a lie, catch him on a gamecam vadelizing a bind or dragging off a kill where he wasn’t allowed to hunt got a “ that’s not me that’s Billy wade “ but that’s your photo and license plate number “ , finally everyone in camp got a belly full and confronted him with a laundry list of things he was lying about, people wanted to throw hands with him, so he burned down the community wood supply
We saw him doing it and he denied it.
Next day I asked for his help and drove him to the front gate and informed my security guard to never again let him on the ranch, and he could come back to pick up his hunting gear in February ( made his boss and coworkers take my trailer and tear it down and put it by the guard shack)
He definitely had a mental illness and maybe even criminaly insane?

I’m struggling with this:

OK Guys, I'm sorry that I didn't actually go INTO space to save those stuck astronauts. I did however ignite the rocket from 1000 yards with my wildcatted 23 Creedmore by bouncing the bullet off of a steel plate, making the sparks to ignite the fuel. I learned how during my 4 tours of Korea/Vietnam/Afghanistan in my SEAL days in the Marine Corps. Don't believe me? It was on Betio island that I got the idea! Honest, just ask President Washington!

There are lies that are good tales, like the size of that minnow that grows with every telling. Then there is the dangerous lies that get folks hurt and killed. I had one of the last almost caused me and another guy to get electrocuted while the liar said he knew exactly which breaker hehadto pull. Turned out he didn't know a circuit breaker from a rotorhead.

My uncle is a Vietnam veteran, and as long as I can remember he has always said, the ones that do the most talking never seen any action, the silent ones did the killing. My uncle has remained silent most of his life.

I have an official veterans ID card issued to me at Minneapolis VA Hospital. I presume any vet who's in the VA's system can get one. Pretty much fool proof way to prove I'm the real thing to businesses offering veteran discounts.

Had a guide named Joe. He lied to elk and called them in better than anyone I’ve known. A lot of elk died because they believed his lies.

Problem was he lied to humans and clients as well. He was likable with an outgoing personality but he always had to puff up his accomplishments and exaggerate everything about himself. I remember one of my good clients mentioning that Joe told him that he was a successful General Contractor and the client was quite impressed with that. I didn’t have the heart to tell the client that Joe was a framer on a framing crew for a General Contractor! I finally got tired of his lies. I let him go but not before I told him that he was likable and just fine the way he really was and didn’t need to lie and exaggerate so much all the time. I don’t know if he learned from it or not.

I knew a guy who had a bunch of tall tales about his hunting and fishing conquests and his “self made” taxidermy. The best part was that the furthest stretched one was actually true, in which he headshot a doe with a carry pistol from over a hundred yards. Lucky shot.

Just relaying what I have heard from other business owners. I believe the biggest issue may be more first responders not necessarily military. But I am sure there is abuse of both.

I personally have a cousin that we hate to claim that plays the stolen Valor card.

The thank you for your service really bugs me. And i always avoid the vet day crowd. Like ill pay for my dinner just to avoid slam packed places full of noise
