Greetings. My name is John Bruce but you can call me Bruce, I'm from Santa Rosa county Florida which is in the Northwest part of the state. We are markedly different than the southern part of the state and that you can color us red and color them blue LOL. Enough on that.
I'll hunt whitetail deer, the occasional wild boar if he's stupid enough to present himself in my deer country and that's about it really.
I hunt in the North end of Santa Rosa county Florida and take deer every year but this last season I was fortunate enough to take a seven-point. First book I've taken off that lease in 7 years lol. All truth be told I was dead asleep in the cabin stand with a propane heater going and a sleeping bag wrapped around me. My dad hit me on the arm and pointed and I looked up and saw the book and just instinctively raised my Ruger 77 in 7 mm mag and fired I hit the buck middle of the lungs I saw the great puff of hair go out the other side and he bucked turned around ran 20 yards and died. I almost went back to sleep but my dad wouldn't let me and he spotted them in the woods laying down first. He had broken one of his time so he was only a seven point but I am thankful and grateful that my dad actually woke me up instead of taking the deer his self.
Other than that my hobbies are firearms, cars,(my Infiniti ,which goes fast) hand loading shotgun shells with slugs, walking through the woods, camping, spending as much time as I can with family, and hanging out with the one white man that I consider my friend and then after that it's just hanging out with me and the wife.
I'm going to lay it out right now so y'all understand. I've been wanting to go to Africa all my life to take Cape Buffalo and Lion. Now that dream may be able to become a reality with some money that we're coming into. With this money I could afford a trip to Africa and taking several games species.
I'm here to learn from people that have been to africa, and I'm sure there's nothing that I could teach anyone about deer hunting that they don't already know but I would be very much appreciative if people could teach me what they know and understand that I am not a troll. To be honest with you I don't really know what a troll is but I'm here asking questions for my own edification and knowledge. I'm not here to like ask a question just for people to say something I really want to know. I'm not going to be asking like weird political or religious questions I'm going to be asking questions directly relative to hunting in Africa. Because that's what I thought this group was about.
If someone thinks I'm doing something weird please by all means say something but also send me a private message and tell me what it is that I'm doing wrong so that I will understand why I'm being told these things because I'm not the most internet literate guy.
Basically what I'm asking everyone is just to treat me like a man like I would treat y'all you know what I mean. I will never disrespect anyone on this side and all I want is the same thing in return. But also in return I want some knowledge about Africa!!! So I guess I'm kind of asking for a lot but if y'all can find it in your hearts to tell me about what a trip to Africa is really all about I would be eternally appreciative.
