My boss just got back from the EC, he hunted 7 days and killed 9 species. With the exception of Impala all were excellent to incredible trophies (several gold medal candidates) The impala was still a beautiful ram but only average size, he later saw a much bigger ram but passes since his wallet was getting light. The funny thing is before he went he had no interest in any animal under 500lb with the exception of Nyala, and whenever I would mention any of the little guys (Duiker, Steinbok, etc) He shook his head and said why would anyone want to shoot something that small. Well, 1 gold medal Duiker later and it is his favorite trophy of the hunt (and he killed many enviable trophies)! He has already booked again for next year, definitely hooked!!!

The coolest thing he got to do was hunt with Cheetahs!!! The outfitter owns 2 5yr old male Cheetahs that he takes out every second day and sets them loose on a non trophy animal. He said they overtook a Kudu cow in seconds and took her down so fast that by the time they caught up with them they had already killed the Kudu and consumed more than 1 hind 1/4!!! They quickly gobbled up over half the Kudu and the outfitter took the rest back for the following days meal. The Cheetahs waddled home with bulging bellies! Very cool.

Stories like that just get me even more fired up about my upcoming hunt. I actually found myself slightly trembling with exitement today while discussing my hunt with a co-worker!

That is quite an expereince with the cheetahs !

A Kudu run down and half eaten and then he got the Cheetah leftovers.
Road kill?, he ate road kill run down by a Cheetah. :)

Well no one is going to top that story any time soon. Where is the video of that one!!!!?????

Funny thing about hunters anyone, anything doing the hunting and we are enthralled.
Good to see your vibrating. I'll watch the plane shake when you fly by one your way out.

Good story and also would like to see the cheetah film...

Thanks for the story Diamondhitch. Would you have for me the name of the outfitter who hunts with his Cheetahs?
