I used to use Bachelders in Grand Rapids (where I live) but since Brad died the service has taken a hit and honestly I am not sure the people are up to the quality he gave me.

Who would you take a rifle to if you wanted the action blueprinted and a front site bead replaced (do they even do Ivory anymore???)

Thanks

I'd be interested in any answers!
I'm up near the top of the mitt. No one that I know of up here does that kind of work anymore.

There is Steven Durren (guild member) down in the Adrian area but the last I heard he had retired and was focusing on a few customers that keep him busy building rifles. Other than that there is know one. Avoid Bachelders, they will disappoint.

Send it to MNR Custom in Vermont or G & H.

A lot of the Parker boys spoke well of Bachelder's when Brad was alive. Sorry to hear their reputation has slipped since his passing.

Used to be every gun I acquired went straight to Brad for a trigger job and action evaluation/blueprint. had him build me a custom 7mm-08 Whitetail Gun and love it

Now turnaround takes forever and one time I had some work and had to return the gun, because a piece was forgotten when it was reassembled…

I’m pretty much done taking things there and it’s really sad because they were tremendous when Brad was running the show.

Laurie is super nice but you just can’t replace Brad when it comes to the gun work

Brad was a close friend of mine. There wasn't much about any sporting gun that he didn't know. He did some amazing restorations on my Parker, Lefever, and AH Fox shotguns. After he departed I lost interest in those guns. Funny how that works...

Brad was laid to rest with a copy of Gunsmith Kinks in his right hand.

RIP Brad. One of Michigan's best.

That is why I am struggling now. For 30 years I had a great gun guy just down the road from me. Never had a reason to look for anyone else.

Now I don't know where to go.

I read an older thread that mentioned you having some 9.3x64 brass. Do you still have some? I am looking for 100 pcs, maybe 200.
