Good afternoon everyone, I've got an old Mauser sporter I've been debating scoping. The rifle is beautiful and I would like to do it justice with an equally handsome scope. Ideally, I would use a gloss scope, preferable a Leupold Vari-X 3-9 as that is what I was raised using. That said, these are all relegated to the secondary market and with no factory support. Where people on here seem to have excellent taste in rifles, I was curious if anyone could suggest some finishes/alternatives that would help me resolve this dilemma. Thank you!

What do you mean with no factory support?

All Leopold carry a full lifetime warranty, and if that is what you want to put on the rifle I would pick one up where you can find one. If there is a problem with it just contact Leopold and send it in to them.

Just if there was some issue, it was my understanding that once it's out of production I'd be in trouble with getting replacement parts and the like. I recently tried to get a replacement turret cap for an old one and they only had matte finish. Happy to be corrected on this!

I have not tried it yet, but I have seen where US Cerakote will cerakote your scope for around $100. One of the color options is a glossy blued finish.

Now that is interesting for sure. I might just go that route.

I wonder if having a. Scope cerakote covered voids the warranty

I checked US cerakote website, they have leupold scopes there, and attached is what they state. You could call leupold and verify. I thought about doing the same thing for myself but didn’t pursue it further

I’m planning to try us cerakote at some point. Just have to check with your preferred scope allows costing or not. Many state they do and many say they don’t allow it.

While you can’t get gloss caps anymore they still repair the scopes themselves.

I will be looking for a set of these when my .505 is done... sadly not cashed up right now for these. :(
Need anything in trade?
Cheers,

what kind of velocity does the 140 grains list, curious how they would fit in with my current 130 gr, supply of 270s. maybe a pic of the box data listing vel. and drop. Oh and complements on that ammo belt, nice.
