I was able to get out yesterday evening and take some shots with the new CZ-550 375 H&H. Let me tell you; I love this rifle!!!! I just did some shooting at 50 yards off the sticks to see how the open sights worked for me. Hit the target just fine, so now I'm ready to put the scope on.

I found that the recoil was very manageable. I was shooting the Hornady Heavy Magnum 270gr Spire Points. Listed at 2870fps. Granted, after the first 3-shot string I dug around in the truck and found a stocking hat to use for more padding. :D

I just held the rifle tight to me, leaned into it, and squeezed them off. I will say I really like the set-trigger also!!

Buddy's wife took some action shots for me. Hope you all enjoy.

Cool picture man. I'm glad the gun shot well for you.

...Heeler never shot a cz 550 but I've shot enough rounds with my 375 to say I love it!! Manageable recoil, fun to shoot & won't break the bank account!!

Mag-na-port reduce recoil and muzzle lift on all types of firearms

Heeler75, I told you once you shot it, you would love it :) This next comment will get the purest restless, have it magna ported. You will not believe how nice it will shoot. the recoil will be like a 30-06. When I bought my A bolt, the previous owner had it magna-ported. I was a little reluctant to by it, but the price was right. After shooting it, I was sold on it. Here is a link Mag-na-port International The porting is right next to the front sight. I will send you a picture of mine.

Mag-na-port

I might have it Mag-na-port-ed in the future but for now I'm gonna just leave it be and have fun with it.

Oh, I will be in touch soon to visit with you about your trip with PL. I've just been smoking busy at work this week.

Heeler75 congratulations on your new 375 H&H rifle. The 375 H&H is one of my all time favorite chamberings for a bolt rifle, and the CZ 550 is a very good choice as well. Glad your's shoot so well!

Mag-na-port works, and is the least evident of all the porting systems available. If the 375 H&H already had the barrel mag-na-ported then it wouldn't negate a deal on buying the rifle, but the 375H&H doesn't need any recoil moderating in the CZ rifle. In any rifle with a properly shaped stock, the recoil is no big deal. A stock shaped like the Rem 700 then it would be of some use, but the CZ only needs a good recoil pad! Actually cartridges like the 338 Win Mag, or 340 WBY need porting more that any 375 H&H, because of their much sharper recoil, and usually lighter stocks. The 375 H&H is a pussycat!

..................................Enjoy!:thumb:

Dugaboy1,
Thanks for the kind words on the CZ. I agree for the money it's hard to beat. And it does have a good pad along with crossbolts now a factory item. I got the scope mounted up yesterday and went and sighted it in. Took me 4 shots to have it where I wanted it at 100 yards (2" high). I have a Leupold VX-II 3x9-40 in Warne Maxima rings on it. All are holding up well.

Last 3-shot group at 100 yds I was about 1 1/2". I figure that's "minute of kudu". HaHaHa

Good morning,
Did you hunt w Leeuwkop at their ranch or in Zimbabwe? The ranch looks awesome, but I'll be in Zimbabwe for buffalo and whatever else we dig up.
What did you hunt for?
Vaccines?
What rifle did you use?
I feel like I need a good cotton safari shirt and an ammo belt to make the hunt feel right!
How often did you shoot prior to going?
Did you use sticks for shooting practice?
