Future One-Rifle PG-DG Setup

Yes Sir, but I'm talking 10 years from now but at the same time I do not want the rifle to sit in the safe. 10 years from now I'm positive I may not want to hunt with my 470 any more.I'm 58 BTW
I was just rethinking your original post. 10 years will pass relatively quickly so don’t prematurely age yourself, you won’t be that old! If you maintain a healthy lifestyle and reasonably good fitness level, you’ll be just fine 10 years from now and have no need to give up any rifles unless you just want to pass them down as gifts.

If all DG are potentially on the list, I would go with a .416 Rigby with open sights and a detachable LPVO.

If elephant and rhino aren't on the list of DG, a .375 H&H should suffice just fine. I would still want open sights and detachable mounts, but might move the scope up to 3X+ for more precise shooting at distance for PG.

I'm 3 years older than you and can still use open sights well.

I know several hunters who are in their late 60's who can "hang" (or even beat out) guys 1/2 their age, because they keep themselves in good shape.

These are fun discussions but it's really not complicated. The most practical answer to this question is 375 H&H - and it has been for over 100 years.

For what it's worth, I met a guy at the shooting range a couple of years ago that was getting ready for his 26th African safari! All he used was a synthetic stocked Sako 375 H&H. He hunted both dangerous and plains game. He loved Africa and loved to hunt, but was not a gun nut. He was totally satisfied with his rifle.

Dakota Safari with 1/4 rib config in 375 HH on GI for $6995, looks minty, absolutely the best value for the money right now.

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob

Good morning. I see that you had a Sauer 202 for sale for $3,000. Did you sell it at that price?
I have one for sale as well. I listed it (on here ) at $3,000 as well. Is the price high, low or right where it should be?

Thanks. Alex. [redacted] in case you want to call me to discuss further. I appreciate your time help and support.
