For the Weatherby fans...Did you see this?

The DGR is $4k. A Parkwest Bushveld identically outfitted comes to $9790 using their Build Your Rifle feature. A Hill Country Custom Safari "starts" at $7900. Except that the latter two use a CRF action and offer standard calibers, I can't think of a reason a Weatherby enthusiast or the "just curious" would choose them at $2x over the Weatherby. It looks like a nice rifle to me, though I've never handled one. The Weatherby carts are a showstopper for me though.

I would say its an affordable and good option. Based on everything else they have done since their move and re-invention as a company based in Wyoming, I take my hat off to them, it's an American iconic company, with incredible history. Fact is, Roy Weatherby was light years ahead of his time with caliber development. Weatherby isn't producing any garbage at all, even their vanguard is a workhorse. The improvements in the actions (307), are evident when you look at them. I've just evolved into a rifle snob with expensive CRF actions and big-name makers, otherwise I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of these in 416 Weatherby and kill everything on earth. They are very aware of their market, fact is this younger generation buys more for utility, value, and experience more than status, appearance, or resale value for that matter.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
