Hi everyone,
l plan to build a sort of place outside the house, where we can discuss at night as we can see in african lodges; central fire pit with banks in concrete all around, with pillows . My question; what should be the right size ? the diameter seems in reality bigger than I could imagine (likely for ten persons I can do the maths for the perimeter or half-perimeter). Any ideas ? any experience ? what do you think ?
thanks in advance for your advices.

My wife and I designed an extended covered patio with a fireplace in the back. It's a great place to hang out, and I spent quite a bit of time there smoking cigars or watching a game. The only drawback is that when we get cold fronts, the winds come from the north, and this faces north, so the wind sucks the smoke out of the fireplace, and it sucks. No wind, it's a great place to hang out.

Yes, mine is 16 ft wide by 21 ft long. I have two ceiling fans and TV.

Several people on here have built them. Try searching “trophy room” or something along those lines and see what comes up or maybe re tool your title to something like “show me you (African) fireplace”. You might get more feedback.
I love the idea, we are in the planning stages to do something similar as well

I did something similar in our backyard last fall with a fire pit and curved bench seating. For about 10 people, we found around 12–14 ft diameter gave everyone enough room without feeling too far from the fire. We had emersonproservices.com help with the concrete work—they curved the benches perfectly and even helped slope the floor slightly so rain wouldn’t pool.

This is on my things to do list. I’d love to see pictures if anyone wants to share.

Here's my little slice of Africa. My wife & I planned it right after our first trip, and built it along with my trophy room a few years later. A nice place to sit with a coldie and think.

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA

Hello - I was looking at your post from several years ago regarding the Winchester 300 H&H. Any chance you still have the lefty M70 300 H&H for sale?
Thank you, Mike

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
