expander die for the 505 gibbs?

im looking at die sets for the 505 gibbs and find it a bit odd that the 3 die set from RCBS comes with an expander die. to my knowledge expanders dies are usually limited to loading cast bullets or loading strait walled cases such as the 45-70.

other then being used for loading cast bullets, why have an expander die for the 505 gibbs cartridge?

i eventually figured it out for my self. the full length sizing die in the RCBS die set does not have an expander ball, this means it only shapes the outside of the case. the expander die shapes the inside of the case neck.
