Drone fishing: Fishing for Bronze Whalers at Gansbaai South Africa

Members, the following week we went spearfishing/rokand surf fishing in the Gourits region near Mosselbaai/Kononkop/...the weather were rough so spearfishing did not work out...fishing was difficult due to so many reefs and too light tackle I used. We did use our time to make leather Velskoene/Vellies as our South Africans calls them. These velskoene /leather shoes will be use on our 1885 Era Black powder hunt this year..I do have difficulties to upload these photos on the video/photo add media...here is another method I am using to show you some photos: Wallace Vosloo taught /mentor Ruan and me to make the vellies without using a shoe last, one pair for me and one for Ruan...:A Banana::A Big Hello:

That is pretty darn cool! You have some skills!

What did you use to sew the leather?

Chukar, thank you for the positive reply. Wayne, I used waxed thread, made from cotton , it is an excellent product and is used for leather work...

I will be filling up the velskoene/leather shoes with hot water, leave it for a while to turn luke warm, step into it, wearing it until it is dry, this will ensure the leather conform to the form of my feet...(y)(y)

Hand stitched or machine ?

Hand stitched or machine ?
No,no all this is done by hand, this is what it is about, to use as few equipment as possible and still make something functional. We only used : an awl, two leather stitching needles, waxed flax thread, a hollow punch, carpet knife and my own two hands. :A Banana:

@Gert, I read where there are a lot of great white sharks in those waters. Do you fish for them or that something reserved for those running on a lean mixture? :ROFLMAO:
Hogpatrol, no, no you are not allowed to fish for the CITES rules..

What sort of tackle, rod, reel, line? 1.5 hour seems to be a long fight for a 100Kg fish.
Keep in mind, I am unfit, only do this type of fishing one a year when visiting Cape. So it will take much longer to get the shark to the beach for me..the real fisherman like the friends we went with will do it much faster..

So just an update on this, Drone fishing has basically just been banned by the Department of Environment Forestry and Fisheries.
They released a statement last month saying that drone fishing does not match the definition of allowed types and therefore it is pretty much illegal.

This makes not a lot of sense, anglers use bait boats, jet ski and even kayaks to take a piece of bait as deep into the sea as they like ..are they going to ban them as well???Or using kites ???
