Cost of Shipping Crate from RSA for those interested

Nope !!! Starting to get a bit antsy.

I was in RSA in June, I believe, and my crate just recently got to its final port. But they said it could be a couple weeks stuck at the Coppersmith warehouse while it waits to clear.

I have a shipment waiting for clearance for 4 weeks at Coppersmiths. Never seemed to take this long before.

They did a great clearing my last shipment. It was on hold for 26 days at jfk hopefully yours will be faster
Did they charge you any kind of holding fee for those 26 days?

I received my crate late last week. Have you gotten an update on yours yet?
Yes sir. Crate arrived at JFK last week. Paid Genus Logistics on Monday to get it through customs & then off to my taxidermist. A bit of sticker shock, but this was my first Safari. 12 animals, 5 of which are Euro & 7 will be mounted. Approx $2,000 dip & pack. $1,800 for freight then $1,200 to clear customs and ship to taxidermist which is about 100 miles from JFK.

I'm curious- who is your taxidermist? I grew up in the Hudson Valley. Frank Zitz?

Richd, I live in Warwick, NY. My taxidermist is Jim Stagliano with Stagliano Taxidermy in Walker Valley, NY. Jim is beyond talented, and he hunts Africa so knows the anatomy first hand. Last year was my first Safari in the Eastern Cape but I will be returning next year alongside Jim.

Nice. I grew up in Hyde Park, moved to Colorado in 1979. My youngest brother grew up with Frank. He does alot of taxidermy for Bass Pro Shops. Good luck with your next trip.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
