Cheetah Hunting Permit Issuance Halted In Namibia For The Remainder Of 2009

This may not be of as much interest to Americans as Cheetah trophies cannot be imported back into the United States, however this may affect many hunters from other countries that do allow Cheetah trophies to be imported under CITES.

Without previous notice, the Namibian Ministry of Environment and Tourism (MET) has stopped issuing Cheetah hunting permits for the rest of the 2009 hunting season in Namibia.

Attached is the actual letter that was sent on April 23, 2009 to Namibia Professional Hunting Association (NAPHA) effective April 24, 2009.

While CITES allows for a limited number of Cheetahs to be sport hunted and exported to other countries, it is an international organization (CITES - Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) and every country can decide independently whether or not they will allow the importation of any given species. So the reason that Cheetah trophies are not allowed to be imported into the U.S. is because it is prohibited by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
