I am wanting a couple of 6 round open top leather cartridge carriers for 416 Remington. I would like a carrier that presents the cartridges in pairs that are easy to grab. Is anyone making such an item?

Thanks,

RC

If you look down a few topics there are a couple talented leather workers here on the forum. Maybe contact them to see if they can build what you need.

I agree with @Kevin Peacocke on the Els & Co Somerset Double Rifle Cartridge Pouch. It does exactly what you are asking.

I have a Murray C-8 Ammo Belt (that also carries my hunting knife) that I prefer. I can take it off when getting in the bakkie and don't have to have cartridges digging into my side while sitting down. You can space the cartridges however you would like with 10 spaces available.

Why pairs for a 416 Rem?

Why pairs for a 416 Rem?
I suppose it wouldn't be much different than a DR chambered in 375H&H, which isn't altogether uncommon. Although I see your point of having pairs of a non-flanged 416 cartridge.

I don't have anything by the craftsmen others already shared, but can recommend as another option Jacques Tredoux. I recently bought 4 cartridge carriers and two belts from him. Very well made.

I want pairs for my 416 for my upcoming hunt for two reasons. First, I will use the belt with my 450/400 when I get it built. Second, I have big fingers and having some extra space around the case heads should make a difference in the rapidity with which I can grab one or a pair of cartridges to reload the double or top off a bolt gun. I just commissioned three items in 375 flanged, 416-450/400, and 577 from a leather worker. We will see how they turn out.

Thanks for your input,

RC

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
