This comes with 28" barrels, auto safety, extractors, an action that locks up like a bank volt double Kersten, double triggers that work as follows. Non selective triggers. Front trigger fires the top barrel only, rear trigger fires top barrel first and then bottom barrel.

What is strange is that it is choked full and full both barrels.

Why would they choke a field gun full and full?

Not so good for walk up bird hunting but should be fine for guineefowl, rockies, ducks and geese..

Congratulations on the new addition!

The best way to hunt this shotgun for walk up game is to do it with varying loads, possibly handloading to get the desired pattern. Of course the pattern will still be tight, but at least you can limit the number, size and speed of the pellets so you don't blow them to pieces.

My shotguns are all mulit-choke so it gives me options, but I typically choose FULL and IM for the majority of game. I've always chosen to shoot bottom barrel first with an O/U so it keeps the bore axis lower for a quicker followup shot. Because of this, the tighter choke is in the top barrel. Assuming I misplace my first shot (because I suck) I have a tighter choke to hit the game at a longer distance.

I also know people who use MOD and IC for nearly everything and they take home as much game as I do. I think it has a lot more to do with the skill of the person pulling the trigger than the choke that's in the shotgun. I shot a full round of clays with @HankBuck using a TKY choke and only realized it about halfway through. I broke about the same number as I would have using my normal FULL choke.

See how each barrel patterns with different loads and that will give you a baseline of which barrel to use first and you can concentrate your efforts on choosing a load for the intended game.

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob
