BOTSWANA: Two Weeks Hunting In The Kalahari With Kanana Safaris

I'm exhausted just reading this epic tale! I'll bet your exhausted chasing all the mounts down? Glad for you that most have shown up and are in good shape.

Go back and read the fun parts. The hunting was awesome all the way through for everyone.

At the end we were all laughing as we played detective sorting out trophies. It was all taken in stride by everyone at this point. It did not take very long to figure it out. We all had pictures of our trophies and had measured them all at the skinning shed.

All sorted.

.

The truly sad part is that a great piece of hunting land is no longer available.

Have you heard if Kanana has sold yet, or is it still on the market?

Debbie lost my 24" impala, we were at Kanana about the two weeks before your group. Did it make it's way to Canada by chance? It would be pretty easy to spot as one side is quite a bit longer than the other. I ended up with a must smaller, younger head that I refused to mount. Here's the one they lost.

Would love to see a pic of your waterbuck.

Bummer. I've had that happen a couple of times. Very frustrating.

I did not bring any Impala home.
The other guys have checked theres with their pictures and appear to have the proper ones. Sorry.

Shocking that it is always the largest specimens that seem to evaporate!

I have not kept up on the sale of the property. I think they were wanting a pretty hefty price.

Funny, you mention, big red hartebeest, missing . I received mine in 2009 back from Namibia but it was dwarf compared to the one shot.
Kind of reminds me of those big warthog trophies that go missing. At least you getting yours back.;)

Mounted, I chased him for eight days alive and you've already teased me with the dead pic!

Funny, my friend chased him for four days before the big fella made a mistake and introduced himself to me.

He has a nice warm place in my paperwork office right behind me.

Here you go.

The only chance I had for a shot was when we were on a blue wildebeest stalk with JP in the lead and up he pops right in front of us at about 40 yards. By the time I got JP's attention ( he had his head down tracking) it was too late to shoot. Glad we saved him for you with that broomed off tip I 'm sure I'd have passed on the shot...............not!

I've heard that when you fire a shot behind a PH they really like it. It always gets their attention.

"Pssst" worked for getting their attention. Does not scare game and then the bang just solidifies it.

I finished my first piece of finish carpentry since I was in grade school.

Thought it was fitting to make a simple pedestal for my Botswana Kudu.

Wow great kudu

Going to go through this thread and update all the pictures as settings in Photobucket had to be changed. This will take me several hours of work to get it done. Searching, placing and reorganizing.

Finally, cleaned this up and hope all the pictures are in the right places. It is fun to go back and reread these reports.

Sir, I will gladly take that 16 gauge off your hands. I was waiting for your Winchesters but I'm a sucker for a 16 ga.

I bought a great deal of the brass he had for sale, plus I already had many hundred rounds.

How much brass are you looking for?
