Blaser R8 for Dangerous Game

In all honesty I never thought I would really become a Blaser guy. Now that I own 5 R8’s I guess I qualify as one.
I’m fairly hard o. Them and don’t do any special cleaning or care for them. I’ve taken them all over and the have performed flawlessly. Here is a pic of my last Safari with an R8 Selous in 500 Jeff.

Beautiful rifle and buff.

Out of curiosity, why do you own five R8’s? I thought one of the main selling points was only using one rifle and swapping barrels as needed. Stunning wood on that one.

Another major point is being able to break them down for travel so they fit in a smaller case. The Pelican 1700 is the perfect vehicle for this. I even managed to wedge in my shooting sticks.

@Daisy - This is the mount I will be getting for the Swaro rail scopes and the current ones from Contessa I'll sell. If anyone is interested, let me know.

Bee. Consider the zero model over the standard. I have both and while they both work well the zero locks up tighter every time.

Also congrats on the Bulls! You still in Africa?

I like the more streamline design that doesn't have the knobs sticking out the side. Easier if I do happen to choose "African carry" while on the hunt without them digging into my shoulder.

We got back at the end of August.

I hear you. Both work great. I still have my thermal on the original Innomount QD with no problems.

The Contessa mount is great, but it still digs into me. Time for an upgrade.

In all seriousness, why? The appeal of R8 is being the Swiss Army Knife of guns where one can change, bolts, barrels, stocks etc. to make it fit any occasion. I can see owning 2, one a safari model for DG and another for plains game.

That is exactly my plan. (y)

That's what I did. Along the way, I got some extra barrels I need to sell.

by any chance any 257 Weatherby :D

To answer several questions as to why 5 rifles…
My first was a custom synthetic stock r8 in 375 H&H (17mm barrel)
Second was a Beautiful R8 Attache for my wife in 300 win mag
Third was a Selous R8 in 458 Lott and now 500 Jeff as well
Fourth was a n r8 Success with a thumb hole stock that is balanced real well
Fifth was a synthetic PH model for the 22mm barrel size when the terrain is a bit more rugged
My sixth( I know I have a problem) is a future r8 with integrated suppressor in 300 win mag. Should arrive in November.

It’s like asking me why I have more than one double barrel rifle…that’s easy, because I want it.

Looking at the two ckeekpieces, they are very different. I'd have to say that Blaser is not using the product from Kalixteknik. However it does look like the Kalixteknik will fit into Blaser Professional and Professional Success stocks. There is one dealer here in the US that imports them. If anyone is interested, here's their website. High Desert Rifle Works Cost is $145, not sure if it's self install or if they will do it. The only downside I see is having to drill your stock on your own and the risk that goes along with it. I linked a YT video of a guy doing the install on a Tikka rifle below. Doesn't look too hard to do and it's a clean look.

Why yes indeed. I have extras in 223, 257 and 375.

Please keep me in mind if in the future you decide to part with one of those 257s. :Finger:

Did you get confirmation that the integrated suppressor barrel is available in the USA? I put my name down to buy one when they become available. I wonder if I’ve missed a call.

I’ve managed to collect 4 stocks and 7 barrels. Why?
2 kids that hunt with me, so that requires a total of 3 stocks.
The 4th stock is the extra for a left handed bolt for my sister or friend or any lefty kids.
It is nice to equip those around me with a system that allows for component swap if needed. I’m paying for the stuff anyways, so I might as well get what I would want to use.

Also, there is the infection explanation:
A .22lr barrel is a must.
Then each stock needs a barrel.
And you need a .375.
Then you buy a barrel from @BeeMaa that really came from @TOBY458
I probably don’t need another R8 barrel, but I would buy one in .257 weatherby, or .404J or maybe a .416.

Strangely, many of us can also understand this by looking at his watch collection. You really only need one watch. But watches don’t take up garage space and those little teeny motors in a watch really cool. And if one watch is really useful, then 6 or more must be even more useful!

Yes, it’s confirmed and I paid for mine 2 weeks ago.

Check out the Innomount zero for Blaser. It is the best system and most repeatable QD mount I have found.

These look very interesting

I’m always having to move my head forward of a natural cheek weld in order to get good eye relief

This looks like it will allow the shooter to set the scope further back

I am the same, I always have to either buy a scope with long eye relief or move it right back. I can vouch personally that the Innomount solves this problem.
They are a really high quality mount. I really like the self torque feature of the feet, absolutely brilliant design.

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc
