Totally agree. Never underestimate "wild" animals! Especially when it comes to bears!

I am not saying this is the cause but, women are more susceptible to bear attacks for a few days each month. It was a male bear that attacked. It’s hard to resist the urge to run, however this might have also exasperated the situation as well.
Hopefully everyone recovers from this incident .

No mention of that in the article. Canadians are not allowed to carry sidearms! It challenging enough just to possess them.
