This looks pretty interesting to me. Lots of fun.

The frame and wire for creating charge shots has my attention. Might have to give that try.

I got worried at first when I saw the little guy and thinking he was going to shot a big bore too.

I think this would be a lot of fun!

DSC conducts a big bore competition each year in May near Dallas, but I don't know the exact location.

Brickburn, DSC post new information every week by email to members. They advertise the upcoming Big Bore Shoot a head of time and then pics of the event itself. I am pretty sure I have seen a video, but can't remember where. I will call the office tomorrow and ask about a video of the last shoot last May. I will post a link to it tomorrow if I in fact find one.

What I remember is, (I think), $40 entry fee. .375 H&H is the smallest caliber allowed, they have a charging buffalo, shooting from sticks at 70 yards, 35 yards off hand and 15 yards off hand. I have considered shooting in it myself, but I am 650 miles from Dallas. It does sound like a lot of fun though. I'll post more tomorrow if I can!

I talked to the DSC office this morning. The when and where of the 2015 shoot will not be decided until 2-3 weeks after the show this weekend. As soon as I am notified of the upcoming event, I will post for everyone that may be interested!

Ill say! I wish we had something like that around here. I may have to string some cable at home :)

Great to share the information on any upcoming shoots.

I'm certainly going to have to create some set ups like this that are easily transportable.

Maybe it's just me but I would think it would take a very brave person to take a knee in front of a charging lion that is so close!

@brushmore I hear you, think it will depend on the terrain and visibility of the shooter. Tall grass would make it hard to hit the cat from the kneeling position, unless you shoot him off the end of your barrel. More open area and with a cat coming directlly at you it may be a better choice as there is less movement to compensate for and the angle would remain more or less steady. This will only apply if the lion is coming straight at the shooter, from the side on position I would still prefer the standing shot.

Looks like a very interesting set-up, would be great practice for home defense purposes as well.

Creative contraption.

love it! wish we had something like that in the NW US.

That is interesting! Surely you can find something like that in the states.

@ActionBob this may be what you are looking for.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
