are having a 20% off sale again. While they are known for their quality shirts, of which I have a few, they also have other stuff.
Below is myself in their estate jacket at NYC a few months ago. Kept me warm and cozy.

My gripe with coats like this - Barbour are the same - is that they don't cover (what Forrest Gump called) the boo-tocks.

We used to call coats like this 'bum freezers' at school.

In the rain, the coat drips from the hem straight onto your bum or legs. QED, the ideal coat should come down to mid or half thigh, and be cinched by a belt at the waist.

Anyway, you look good in it!

I prefer something a little longer myself..

It looks like Avedon and Colby offer something you might like though.. similar design and cut to the coat @Tanks is wearing, but longer.. more like the old Artkis Smock that the Brit army used to issue (they may still issue it?)..

Really reasonably priced too... knowing tanks demands quality, I am sure they make an excellent jacket.. and if the smock length coat can be had for $249, thats a pretty serious bargain...

@roverandbrew turned me onto the Artkis version last year.. theyre roughly the same price (I think $200?).. Ive been super happy with it.. rugged and durable as hell... reasonably thin and comfortable to move around in... and way more than enough to fend off the absolute coldest winter day that north texas can provide.. It became my go-to jacket for deer season last year.. and ultimately became my go-to jacket for pretty much any cold day after that...

I actually have that particular jacket as well. It is my go to jacket for African and international travel when weather is milder.

I love their shirts, I have several. Haven't tried the coats.

I really like their stuff too. The signature shirt is more of a functional tool than just a shirt. Wearing them in Limpopo in 30 C weather for days of tracking was a real test. They are great.

My only complaint is that they don’t do the signature shirt in a green. I have been advised that khaki glows like white in the bush environment, so I was advised against it by a couple of PHs. The tea colour matches the dirt in Limpopo to a, well, tea.

I own and use that jacket regularly. For Central Texas, it is pretty much winter wear, but is perfect for travel in spring and fall.

I have around a dozen of their shirts, plus that jacket Tanks posted about. Their shorts are very expensive for what they are, but good quality. I really like their stuff. The issue is their stock reliability. I've been waiting around 3 years for them to restock their ball cap.....

Their jeans are my absolute favorite. I have 3 in rotation and 3 as back ups in case I ever wear the first ones out. I wear them almost daily.

You’re not the only one waiting for a ball cap. They should be taking pre-orders for those!

I love Avedon & Colby stuff as well. I have their safari jacket, signature field shirts in cotton and linen, signature field pants and shorts. They hold up well in the African brush and the linen shirts are great when it gets hot. Wore their shorts and linen shirts hunting elephant in November in Namibia a few years ago.

Ok…I gotta ask, how hot was Namibia in November? It’s looking like I may head back to Botswana in late October.

We were in Bushmanland and during the day it was quite hot, mid 90's, but the humidity was pretty low so it did not feel too bad. As long as you stayed hydrated it was OK. Brush was thorny so my lower legs got scratched up but the long sleeve linen shirt work great, I did not feel that hot and the long sleeves protected my arms well and the shirts held up against the thorns.

The good thing was it cooled down a lot after sunset. Temperatures were in low 60's in the evening so sleeping was very comfortable.

I’d be just east of that area, was just there in April/May and didn’t seem like much grew without thorns, some wickedly sharp and curled.

I’ll have to try out a linen shirt. I’ve become so accustomed to the comfort of some modern fabrics with some stretch to them, but thorns and those don’t mix so swimmingly.
