I just watched a Youtube video wherein they were unpacking a crate of SA trophies to show the recipient how to unpack the crate. I was shocked to see the horns were not attached to the mounts, and that they just slipped on. Question - are these the actual horn of the animal harvested, or are they a facsimile with the same measurements? If they are not the actual horns, can you get the original horns somehow?

They are the horns, they are just not attached to the skull in the way you may have thought they were.

All your antelope have sheaths on their horn covering a bone. That's why a antelope with a broke horn is a cull. It can't regrow them, where as deer, moose, elk, stag etc regrow new antlers every year

They remove the horns of some of the animals to keep the crates more compact. This saves you some money when shipping them home thank goodness, with the way shipping prices are these days.

They are fakes.

They dont let you keep any real horns in Africa when you buy an auction hunt. They sell them to make up for the donation.

That's the exact opposite of what the 3 people above you said. Are you sure?

They are real. Mistakes may happen time to time with another client’s trophy but it’s very rare. The horns have no value in Africa. Reproductions (if they are making them for plainsgame yet) would be more expensive than the real horn.

Dinsdale should not have made the sarcastic post he did.

I PREFER REMOVABLE, MAKES EM EASIER TO HANDLE.

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
Thanks,
