And now for something completely different……

I swear… my eldest grandson hunts doves with this kid (probably mid twenties age), 400 pounds weight and completely bitten by the “Tacti-Cool” bug. You should really see him someday. Always dresses in black “Tactical” fatigues, wears a black “Tactical” vest (fitted with ceramic plates that he’s had his mom sewn in), wears a black “Tactical” cap and black “Tactical” sunglasses (even at night). Always carries a huge “Rambo” style survival knife with saw teeth & a blood groove. He uses a 12 gauge 3.5” Magnum Benelli M4 fitted with enough “Tactical” accessories to weigh the whole thing down & use it as a boat anchor (including a flashlight even though he’s hunting the doves in broad daylight). He comes to hunt doves on my property with Federal Premium Grand Slam 2 ounce copper plated #6 shot. Ironically, he seldom manages to hit anything. But when he does, there’s no salvageable meat left on the doves. He always talks as if we’re on some sort of spec ops mission, but gets tired after walking in the sun for an hour. He failed admission into military school and his parents approached me to try to put in a good word for him. He’s a sweet kid, but just a little confused…

Nothing against the “Tacti-Cool” crowd (what they do with their money is none of my business). I’m a wierdo too in many ways, myself. But I genuinely find myself wondering: How would any of these young men fare if they actually found themselves in a dangerous situation ?
I have heard that crowd at my gun club referred to as Gravy SEALs.

And here I was hoping for a Monty Python discussion. What series or crap sources lead to that graphic?

Most of us . . . Waiting for @Daisy response that this is the future of DG hunting
I have limits my friend. I find Q stuff to be an abomination!

If you look you can find the Q crowd using subs from 8.7 blackout and 375 raptor on Cape buffalo. Also an abomination.

I’m a doctor of hearing. So suppressors are meaningful to me. You wouldn’t believe how many old men I’ve seen drug into see me that can’t hear a lick (and often won’t admit it). It is a real pain to the rest of the family, especially the wife.

Ha ha. I hear you.
But we all wise up a little eventually.
Some of us slower than others.

I just received the May/June issue of Sporting Classics. The inside front cover sports the strangest, silliest most mockable magazine ad I’ve ever seen. Setting aside the argument of using an AR for dangerous game, what’s the dude doing? Vaulting over a pair of Cape Buffalo in full camo holding a contraption that may be a rifle? I’d like to see this become an Olympic event!

They forgot a few letters after the Q

Good grief

If there is a 6.5 manbun, does it follow to designate this cartridge the 8.6 hipster hair?

Nothing screams sporting classic to me more than a space aged rifle shooting a sub par round at a buffalo.
Give me a 375 or .416 and I’m in!
I should’ve proofread this.
I meant a classic looking .375 or .416 in walnut and steel or a good synthetic traditional stock not that, I won’t ever own one of those.

“Being the best is in the details”….. LMFAO!

Anyone else wondering who the first major outdoor writer to use this rifle on a sponsored hunt will be?

Google the rifle and read the reviews from the tacticool crowd.

Complaints I’ve seen from them:
It’s too light I don’t need a sub 14 pound rifle.

Bolt handles too small not tactical.

Not enough room for attaching accessories.

These guys really look at guns in a way I don’t understand.
It's because a high percentage of them have zero interest in hunting. Those rifles are mostly meant for PRS type competition shooting on a flat range.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with this, because it gets more people involved in shooting, and these shooters are some of the most adamant about preserving our rights.

Think of these new rifles as Formula 1 cars meant for the race track. This would be in stark contrast to a 1934 Ford that I prefer. No reason to disparage either one.

I wonder who actually signed off on a add like that?
Probarbly someone who is big into gaming that designed the add.

I’m not disparaging the gun. The ad is what’s cringe worthy.

I'm all for responsible gun owners and even the tacticool crowd. Note I said RESPONSIBLE. that ad is not. Doesn't make me want to research the company or the gun. Too bad. We may need their votes someday to support the 2nd amendment.

I get that. I just really don’t understand the giant bolt handles. I find them much harder to operate.

I get the heavy gun being easier to shoot steadily.

There nothing wrong with sunglasses at night or midnight shift. If your under 25 and have a 3 day hangover

Depends on how the bolt handle clears the scope. Remember, most of these rifles are meant to be fired in the prone off a bipod, and the bolt handle slapped upward and backward with an open palm, then slapped forward and down to close the bolt. A larger bolt handle can make for faster reloads when you are on the clock. Time+accuracy=score in some types of competition.

These subsonic calibers are fun to shoot through a suppressor, but they are NOT proper Dangerous Game calibers.
