Airlines requiring a UN0012 or UN0014 proof

This means they want you to prove that these are small arms cartridges, do you have any approval from the authorities permitting you to take the firearm and ammo abroad? Perhaps send them a copy of that along with the picture of CIP proof marks and calibre from the ammo box.
The permit for the temporary export and reimport is still ongoing. I will provide this too. But the airline guy already told me he needs to see something with UN0012 printed on it. I just hope that @BourbonTrail 's document mentioning only the 1.4S will suffice.

I wrote RWS for their own version of the safety data sheet, with the same mention.

Vert, the UN0012 designation was on page 5 under Transportation, hopefully they accept.

thanks a million ! this could work! It does not mention the UN0012 however... only 1.4S
As I cannot access the US Brownells site, could you check if they have one of such sheets for RWS ammunition?

This a bulk box of 10 Rottweil shotshells packages. Perhaps show them this picture? Maybe a gun shop will have one with Norma written on it.

Thanks a lot @BourbonTrail, I had tried to search the document for UN0012, but it was mentioned UN Number : 0012 , so I did not find it.

I've spent the last two hours trying to find anything on the websites of Norma and RWS on this, and you guys find this without breaking a sweat...

Just book with annother airline..

AirBelgium has the only direct flight from Brussels to Johannesburg, 11hrs of flight. I get on the plane at 20:00, sleep, and then I have breakfast in the airport already. This is a route I have to check out. Outbound is Wednesday’s. Coming back is 19:00 on Monday’s…

This opens the possibility of a long weekend safari in Africa.

So far they have been friendly, just a bit difficult about requiring this proof. But once I have it, it should work out.

Sometimes CC in certain circles means the person will eventually give up or email me directly.

My 7x57 application currently at 109 Calender days 80 business days and only 60% of the progress while the Police were told by the High Court that applications had to be finished within 90 working days.

You will sort it out with the help of AH of course.
 
Are you dealing with the airline's Dangerous Goods people or just a booking clerk? I would have hoped that the Dangerous Goods people would already know the answer to this question. The requirement to prove Div 1.4S status would eliminate any chance of travel with reloaded ammunition. Most airlines recognise any sporting ammo as 1.4S, as distinct from tracer, explosive etc types of military ammo which are in different classifications.
 
So I received an update this night. These safety data sheets are accepted as proof!

Indeed was talking to the dangerous goods people, I equally pointed out to them, that it would be impossible for someone reloading their own munition to prove this. Pointing towards Olympic shooters (Belgium got a medal last olympics) who almost always handload.

I’m thinking the sequence was: supervisor in cc since the last 20 mails. She was in training and did not see the correspondence. AH found these safety data sheets which I provided to the guy. Supervisor back from training, whispers a little word to the guy. Everyone can save face, as they got something, and I have approval.

Wont be long and all airlines will start this crap! The idea being to make it so difficult a process to take guns and ammo on the plane that many will just say forget it, too much trouble!
 
I was about to point out that the reference that @BourbonTrail trail did list the UN code directly above the 1.4S just that they put it a bit different ie FN/UN number 0012. Fortunately that's all irrelevant now. Glad it has all been sorted.

Interesting to note that there are still some transport operators who take things to the extreme. A few years ago there was a National Championship in Tasmania (Australia) and mainland competitors were going to take the ferry over. However the ferry operator's interpretation only allowed factory ammo and specifically banned reloaded ammo on pain of confiscation. End result very few went to the championship.
