AH Get Together El Campo Texas, October 18th 2025

I'm not sure what type of mobile plan he picked up, but he could be waiting for Wi-Fi at the hotel to check in.

He might be rather busy driving into traffic going the wrong way;)
@ActionBob
Made it safely to Chattanooga so far without crashing. The wife's screams let me know if'n I'm doing the wrong thing.

Good news... well except for @Rick HOlbert ;)
Yes sir. Had a grand time with them. It was an honor to host them while here. Had some great conversations and times. Sorry to see them go but all good things come to a close. I'm sure the other forum members will have a great time visiting with them also.

Bob is now headed to Virginia. Was an honor to host him and Judy.
@Rick HOlbert
Rick it was a most enjoyable time we had with you. You and Pete are great people and I regard you more as a brother than a friend. You are a truly great person.
All the others we have met are now family as well to go along with all the great people I have come to engage with on the forum.
We have met a lot of truly amazing group thru this foum
Bob
I know you don't like blowing your own trumpet but don't worry I'm a big enough wind bag to blow it for you.

Thanks much for the kind words Bob. You as well are more a brother than a friend. Glad you and Judy enjoyed yourselves while here. As for the forum members, I've always said some of the best folks you can meet are in the shooting community. For hunters in general, those of us who have hunted in Africa are a small but privileged group of people who have grabbed the chance and lived life for what it has to offer.
As for old Pete, what can I say? He's one of the best friends I've had. He's helped me build several rifles and I've helped him on a couple of projects he had in the works. Hell of a gunsmith who builds rifles in the classic style of the good old days.
Have a grand trip going home. You always have a place to stay if ever this way again. Safe travels brother.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
