A Day After The Indian Crocodile

Thanks Bob. Please just call me Wyatt. I grew up watching Steve Erwin and have been fascinated by crocodiles ever since.

I’d like to try it someday. I could probably find alligator, but I live to far north for it to be common. Id like to hunt one someday too, but it’s not at the top of the list, so it likely won’t happen.

Unfortunately you can't hunt then in Australia anymore. Steve Irwin and his GREENIES saw to that.

Yes sir you are right. it is alligators that we hunt here in Louisiana. Our american crocodile is on the protected species list and is only found in southern Florida. We hunt alligators commercially here in Louisiana. It is based on the amount of land you own or lease. You get 1 alligator tag per roughly every 100 acres of property owned or leased. We also have wildlife refuges that allow alligator hunting on them.
It is a draw system and the person that is picked get x amount of tags per size of the refuge. Our biggest refuge here is over 200,000 acres and they allow 1,100 alligators to be harvested per year. Ten people are drawn for this hunt and the tags are split between the hunters. I have had family members drawn for the last 6 years. From 2014 through 2016 i had 3 members drawn and we harvested 330 gators in 10 days and from 2017 through 2019 my wife was drawn and we harvested 110 gators in 3 days. The area I'm from annually harvest around 15,000 to 16,000 gators in the month of September which is our gator season. you are allowed the whole month of september to fill your tags.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
