I am working on developing a load for my Husqvarna 146 in 9.3x57. I have 250 gr Nosler Accubonds, 285 gr PPU, and 286 gr Nosler partitions on hand. I tested a batch of all 3 while hog hunting and the results were the same, bang-flop. I did recover 2 of the accubonds from big boars that were taken with quartering shots. The partitions only got tested on 2. I am concerned they are too hard to reliably expand at 9.3x57 velocities. My hand loads are around 2150 fps.

Have any of you guys taken the partitions on safari in your 9.3s? How do they perform on light-medium game?

Headed to Canada this June for a black bear hunt. I know any of the above will work fine. I am expecting shots extremely close, 20-30 yards. Exit holes make bears easier to track. I think the partitions are the most likely to exit on a big bear on a quartering shot. I am worried they won't open much unless I hit significant bones/resistance.

I'd love some real world experience using these bullets across the spectrum on animal size.

Thanks!

I have never used that chambering BUT my understanding is that 232 grains is the standard bullet weight for a 9.3x57. If you want a heavier bullet, I believe that Speer makes a 270 grain projectile which may suit your purposes. The 9.3mm 270 grain bullet seems to be a popular deer hunting bullet with the 9.3x62, having better expansion thana typical 286 grain bullet and a more aerodynamic profile. Best of luck with your search. The 9.3x57 is a cartridge I would actually like to try myself if I can find a rifle that has not been hotrodded to 9.3x62.

Hi PaulB. Would you be interested in another WJ Jeffery .450/.400 NE 3". It's an extractor model and in superb condition, cased as well. Made in 1908. The rifle is here in Texas.
