just noticed federal has a 7mmstw load with 160 aframe.
for those who do not reload this would have a lot to offer as the gun used in conjunction with a 375 or 416.
it would handle game from really small up to quite big with aplomb, and do it out to 300 yds aim dead on.
all this with manageable recoil.
bruce.

Availability of ammunition would be a major priority for me traveling with firearms to Africa for safari.
I know I would have the 375 or 416 to fall back on, but why paint yourself into a corner with such an uncommon caliber?

Think I might go with Nosler loaded with Nosler Accubonds over Federal. Just personal preference.
Great calibre but as stated availability of ammo might pose an issue in different parts of the world.

There are ways to get around this. If traveling with others, have your hunting buddy(s) take a box or two of each other's ammo in their bags. Me and my partners do this and have yet to have a problem with non traditional rifles (we both take .17 Fireballs). There's something to be said with taking a favorite or other special rifle to Africa.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
